The calling notice for the 2018 AGM for Dorset BCS is as follows.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

BCS DORSET BRANCH

I have pleasure in drawing your attention to the Annual General Meeting of the Dorset Branch of BCS, which will be held on Thursday, 20th September 2018 at Bournemouth University, Creative Lecture Theatre – Fusion Building, Talbot Campus, Poole, Dorset, BH12 5BB commencing at 7pm for a 7:30pm start.

Tea and coffee will be served from 7pm. Ample parking is available at the campus.

Member Groups must organise an Annual General Meeting (AGM) once a year, where the committee reports to the membership on the previous year’s activities and committee members are elected.

I would be grateful if you could make every effort to attend this important event in our calendar. Ticket booking is essential and will be available from Thu 23rd August at 7:00pm. You can book through our web site www.dorset.bcs.org.

Guest speaker – Ruth Spencer on 5G for Bournemouth

I am pleased to inform you we will have a guest speaker–Ruth Spencer–from Bournemouth Council, who will discuss project plans for 5G implementation in Bournemouth.

Election of Chair, Treasurer and other Committee Members

The following committee members have volunteered to be considered for re-election for another year and will be proposed and seconded by members attending the AGM:

  • Chair – Dr Richard Gunstone MBCS
  • Secretary – Tony Ford MBCS
  • Treasurer – Peter Davidson MBCS
  • Webmaster – Paul Albinson MBCS
  • Education Liaison Officer – Geoffrey Darnton CITP MBCS
  • Industry Liaison Officer – Ryan Trant MBCS
  • Member – Immediate Past Chair – Dr Andrew Main CITP MBCS

However, this does not preclude any branch member from seeking election to any of the above posts at the AGM. If you wish to do this you must have a proposer and seconder who are members of the branch. Your details, proposed committee role and the details of the proposer and seconder (including their membership numbers) must be sent to the Chair (dorset_chair@bcs.org.uk) no later than two weeks prior to the AGM.

The following posts will be vacant and we would really welcome some additional members onto the committee to fill these vital roles and to reduce the burden on the current members. Remember it is your branch. If you are interested please let me know (dorset_chair [[at]] bcs.org.uk) preferably no later than two weeks prior to the AGM. A proposer and seconder will be arranged at the AGM.

Any other business

Notification of items to be raised at the AGM under “Any other business” should be sent to the Chair (dorset_chair@bcs.org.uk) not less than three days in advance. Admission of items not so notified at the AGM will be at the discretion of the Chair.

Buffet and presentation

The AGM will be followed by a buffet at 8 pm and, as mentioned, a presentation at 8:20pm from Ruth Spencer on the topic of Implementation of 5G in Bournemouth.
